Terms of Use
Last Updated: January 21, 2026
These Terms are entered into between you and Docstrive Company (the "Publisher"), the publisher and owner of the App.
DocStrive (the "App") is a surgical logbook designed to document operative activity and educational progress (procedures, roles, durations, key steps, notes, annotated photos, and statistics). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the App.
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1) Purpose
DocStrive (the "App") is a surgical logbook designed to document operative activity and educational progress (procedures, roles, durations, key steps, notes, annotated photos, and statistics). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the App.
2) Acceptance
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
3) Intended Users and Professional Use
The App is primarily intended for healthcare professionals and trainees (residents, fellows, attending surgeons). You agree to use the App in compliance with:
- Professional secrecy / medical confidentiality
- Your institution's policies
- Applicable laws and regulations (including GDPR where relevant)
4) Not a Medical Device
The App is not a medical device and does not provide diagnostic or therapeutic recommendations. It must not be used as the sole basis for clinical decisions or for emergency care.
5) Account, Security, and Access
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials confidential
- Securing your device
- All activity performed through your account
The App may use encryption mechanisms to protect data. Losing access (e.g., losing a key/recovery phrase, deleting the device) may make some data unrecoverable.
6) Data You Enter: Minimization and Responsibility
You control the data you enter. To reduce risk and support compliance:
- Prefer non-identifying references (initials, codes, internal IDs)
- Avoid unnecessary personal data (full names, addresses, etc.)
- Enter only what is justified for your educational use
You represent that you have an appropriate legal basis/authorization to process any data you enter (including under GDPR and internal policies).
7) Photos and Annotations (Local Storage)
Annotated images and their paths/labels are designed to remain stored on the device (local storage) and are not, by default, uploaded to an image server. When you export or share an image (e.g., via the iOS/Android share sheet), you are responsible for the chosen channel, recipients, and required permissions/authorizations.
8) Encryption and Privacy
The App aims to protect data through encryption, including on the device and, where applicable, when stored on servers (end-to-end encrypted / E2E), so that unauthorized third parties cannot read the information.
Important: no security measure is perfect. You agree to use the App under this premise and to keep your device secure (lock screen, updates, backups, etc.).
9) Use of Anonymized Operative Data for Education / Research
To improve the App and support medical education, you agree that the publisher may use, only in anonymized and aggregated form, certain operative activity data for:
- Educational analytics
- Scientific studies and research
- Educational publications or presentations
- Product improvement
This may include, for example: procedure type, operative duration, frequency of key steps, time trends, and usage metrics. Not included: direct identifiers (name), images, attachments, and free-text content that could identify a person, unless strictly anonymized beforehand. The publisher commits to avoiding re-identification and applying minimization safeguards.
10) Intellectual Property
Docstrive Company is and remains the exclusive owner of the App, its source code, trademarks, logos, UI, databases, content, and all related documentation. These elements are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the App in accordance with these Terms.
11) Third-Party Services
Some features may rely on third-party services (e.g., authentication, database hosting, notifications). Their availability and terms may change. The publisher is not liable for outages beyond its reasonable control.
12) Suspension and Termination
The publisher may suspend or terminate access in case of Terms violations, security risks, or legal requirements. You may stop using the App at any time.
13) Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for:
- Indirect damages
- Device/backup/configuration-related data loss
- Non-compliant use of the App
14) Changes to These Terms
The publisher may update these Terms. The applicable version is the one provided in the App (or published with the release). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
15) Contact
For questions, use the contact channel indicated in the App / App Store listing.
